Lawson Partners for Expansion in the Hot Brazilian Market

The Brazilian economy runs hot and sometimes cold, and right now, it is hot, hot, hot. Whenever IT vendors talk about where they are growing at double digits, Brazil is in the list, right along with Russia, India, and China. And that is why ERP software vendor Lawson Software is fired up to be working with a new distribution partner for its M3 suite in Brazil.

That partner, Consultix Consultoria Assessoria, has been hired to provide sales, implementation, training, maintenance, and other consulting services for Lawson M3 customers in Brazil. Initially, Consultix will focus on peddling the M3 suite, formerly known as Movex and coming from the Intentia International side of the Lawson house, to companies in the fashion, food and beverage, and asset-intensive industries, according to a statement from Lawson.

"We are delighted to be able to offer the Lawson M3 enterprise software solutions in Brazil, where there is solid market potential for it," said Jose Carlos Gouveia, director of Consultix, in that statement. "It is our goal to offer 'best in class' global software and introduce Lawson to the local market. The Lawson M3 product suite provides broad and flexible industry-specific functionality for the vertical industries that Lawson serves."

Not much else is known about Consultix except that the company is located in Brazil, has Tadeusz Prucsazyk (who is according to Lawson well known in the ERP space in Brazil) at the company, and has a Web site under construction. Earlier this year, the Linux Professional Institute, a Linux certification company, said that Carlos Gouveia was the area operations manager for Latin America and that Consultix was one of its partners.

Lawson's partner network list cites a company called Tribex Consulting, based in Redwood City, California, as its original M3 partner in Brazil. That seems pretty far from Sao Paulo, Brasilia, and Rio de Janeiro, the three major cities of the country, which has the fifth largest land mass, the fifth largest population, and the eighth largest economy in the world. You can see why Lawson would be keen to find some local and expert help to push its M3 products in Brazil. The amazing thing is that it hasn't happened already.
