Q4bis Teams Up with SM Consulting for Business Intelligence

Published: December 11, 2006

Business intelligence software provider Q4bis continues to push into the North American small and medium business market, and has inked a deal with SM Consulting to provide integration services for the Q4bis suite.

The Q4bis is a suite of business intelligence tools run on Microsoft's Windows Server and a multidimensional database created using SQL Server, as well as a Windows front end, and various ETL and mobile tools that run in Windows. But Q4bis was intentionally extended, through a set of templates for major RPG-based ERP packages for OS/400 and i5/OS platforms to be able to interface with DB2/400 and do BI work against those ERP suites.

Back in September, Q4bis signed a partnership with Corning Data Services, a hardware reseller and service provider based in Corning, New York--right near IBM's founding stomping grounds in Endicott, New York. Corning Data Services signed up specifically to sell the Windows-based Q4bis product suite into J.D. Edwards accounts.

SM Consulting was founded in 1996 and is based in Linthicum, Maryland, which is outside of Baltimore. It was founded by Sheila Courtney Heinze, who was a receptionist at an unnamed IT company who went on to found her own firm. (That's cool, man. And she went to my alma mater, Penn State, too.) In any event, the company started out with limited funding and one employee in a home office in 1996, and today has 500 employees and does a lot of big government contracts.

"SM Consulting is an organization that provides a broad array of Microsoft services to its clientele," explained Louis-Philippe Lalonde, vice president of marketing and business development for the U.S. operations of Q4bis, which located in Irvine, California. "Q4bis is proud to partner with them to further empower their BI offering to their mid-range clientele with quick-to-install and easy-to-use BI applications."
