Happy Holidays, Time to Take a Break or Two or Ten

Thank heavens, we made it through 2009 all the way to the holiday season. As we say goodbye to the Naughties--not good riddance, since many good things happened along with the bad during these past 10 years--and reflect on the challenges we all have faced (and hopefully met) since the summer of 2008, when the economy started to melt, it is my privilege to say thank you to the many people and organizations that make our Four Hundred stack of newsletters possible.

So, happy holidays, good readers of The Four Hundred, Four Hundred Stuff, Four Hundred Guru, and Four Hundred Monitor. We look forward to serving you and your computing platform in a new decade. And joy as well to the sponsors of our newsletters who pay the bills and make it possible to provide the information we do freely to our readers. I would like to thank the staff at Guild Companies, the company that puts the newsletters together each week, for their many long hours of hard work and careful attention. There is no better team in publishing, and I am grateful to work beside them everyday. And my thanks go out as well to their families, who support them in their work as my family supports me in my work. These newsletters are, and always have been, a group effort.

As many of you know, this is the time of year when I settle in to make a bunch of batches of beer, cook a lot for family and friends, and try to relax my neurons a little before having to ponder the AS/400--our AS/400--for the next year. I sincerely hope that you get some downtime over the holidays as well, and that the new year is a better year for us all. See you on the other side in the Tensies. . . .
