Happy Holidays from All of Us at IT Jungle

Published: December 18, 2006

It is hard to believe that another holiday season is upon us again. But, because our brains slow down as we age, the world seems to go by faster and faster. This is also why children move so fast and are so impatient; they have much higher cycle times and it has taken, as far as they are concerned, a painfully long time for the holiday season to return.

All of us at IT Jungle wish all of you, our readers, a happy and healthy holiday season. We are, as always, grateful for the support that our readers give to us, and for the advertisers that make it economically possible for us to serve our readers. The IT Jungle only exists at the confluence of these three forces.

Speaking for myself, I am looking forward to a little downtime. I have built the initial lab for Hardware Foundry, my related open source hardware project, and have a bunch of servers to build. (I wouldn't call them big iron; considering the parts I am using, perhaps little aluminum is a more apt description.) I am also looking forward to not being on deadline for a few weeks, and to spending time with my family and friends. It is important to work, and my kids know that and respect that; however, as many people who do interviews with me can attest, the kids are also often in the office with me, and it will be a good thing for all of us to get outside and be tourists in our city, New York, for a few weeks. I plan to show them different neighborhoods a couple times a week. We did Madison Avenue this past weekend, and Chinatown is next because it is so much fun.

May all of you enjoy the good cheer and good times of the holiday season. Spend time with your family and friends; walk away from the computer. Time with the people you love is as important as work, and you know it.

We'll see you again in 2007, and we'll be fired up and raring to go!
