Linux server and high performance computing specialist Penguin Computing announced today that it has hired Pauline Nist away from Hewlett-Packard to be its senior vice president of product development and management.
Nist was until last week vice president of quality for HP's Enterprise Storage and Servers division, and prior to that she was vice president and general manager of the fault tolerant NonStop server business unit, and she came to that job when the former Compaq bought the former Tandem (both are now part of HP). She was also vice president of the AlphaServer line at the former Digital, which Compaq acquired as well.
Penguin Computing is a specialist in Linux servers that acquired the Scyld Beowulf clustering software for Linux a few years back; it is run by chairman and CEO, Enrico Pesatori, also a former Compaq executive and someone who has worked with Nist for years. In her new role, Nist will be responsible for all hardware and software product development, engineering, and marketing, including the Beowulf software.
