Novell, Concurrent Create Real-Time SUSE Linux Variant

Commercial Linux distributor Novell and real-time operating system expert Concurrent Computer have been quietly working on a real-time variant of the SUSE Linux distribution. Appropriately enough, according to Novell sources, this will be called SUSE Linux Enterprise Real Time 10 when it is announced on October 9, but everyone in the SUSE community will probably end up calling it SLERT 10. SGI Kills Off Irix Unix and MIPS Machines, At Long Last

In a move that anyone who watches the Unix server market could have predicted years ago, server maker Silicon Graphics, which has been working for several months to get out of bankruptcy, has said it will pull the life support plug on its MIPS-based servers and workstations. (For the purpose of this pop quiz ignore the fact that attorneys are paid not to be objective and that lawyers are to ethics what politicians are to truth.)
