Red Hat, Reporting Q2, Reorganizes Operations for Growth

Commercial Linux and middleware distributor Red Hat reported its financial results for its fiscal 2008 second quarter last week, and Matthew Szulik, the company's chairman and chief executive officer, also announced that the company has been working on a reorganization he called '20/20' that will change the way the company does engineering, sales, and marketing for its various product lines in an effort to position itself for growth as it tries to break through the $1 billion sales barrier. HP Wins 163 Teraflops Opteron Super Deal at PNNL

Hewlett-Packard has not been near the top of the global list of supercomputer sites since the ASCI-Q Unix supercomputer built by Compaq's Alpha RISC servers and its Tru64 Unix were riding high at Los Alamos National Laboratory back before HP even bought Compaq. But this week, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory is going to vault HP into the upper echelons of the Top 500 list by installing a 163 teraflops Opteron-based Linux cluster that is being built by HP. Sun Ships Intel-Based Galaxy Rack Servers

Seven months after inking a joint development and OEM agreement with Intel, the engineers at Sun Microsystems have put out a second-generation of 'Galaxy' X64-based servers that make use of the latest quad-core Xeon processors from Intel.
