Agilysys, Red Hat Ink Enterprise Reseller Agreement

Published: October 10, 2006

by Timothy Prickett Morgan

Agilysys, one of the handful of master IT distributors in the world, and commercial Linux distributor Red Hat have forged an enterprise reseller agreement.

Under the agreement, the Agilysys Enterprise Solutions Group (ESG) is now certified as a Red Hat Advanced Partner, which is the highest status you can attain in the Red Hat reseller channel. Agilysis is located in Boca Raton, Florida, and is a publicly traded company that trades its shares on the Nasdaq. The company posted sales of $1.74 billion in its fiscal 2006 year ended in March, and brought $28.6 million of that to the bottom line. Agilysys sells server and storage hardware, software, and services, and is one of the largest resellers in the world and is even more dominant in the United States. The ESG unit offers tailored IT acquisition and system integration services directly to end users, while its KeyLink Systems Group (KSG) is a master reseller of hardware and software that has a downstream channel of resellers, who in turn interface with end user companies. The KSG side of Agilysys is already a Red Hat distributor in the United States.

"Today, customers are looking for comprehensive Linux solutions and the flexibility of an open source environment," explained Dave Williams, vice president of marketing at Agilysys ESG, in a statement accompanying the announcement. "Agilysys has a proven track record in the design and implementation of Linux solutions. We are pleased to partner with Red Hat and further enable our customers to achieve the value and high-performance associated with open source."
