Penguin Computing Dives Into the Blade Server Fray
by Timothy Prickett Morgan
Blade server sales are expected to hit about $1 billion worldwide in 2004, and that means this subset of the server market will begin to attract more players. In some ways, this makes perfect sense, and in others, it is downright crazy. Is an IBM-Apple combo thinkable, much less possible? READ MORE >

Mad Dog 21/21: The Dry Fish Affair
by Hesh Wiener

Lutfisk (or lutefisk) is a special kind of dried fish, often cod, that, when hydrated and cooked, is a potent source of fragrance, holiday cheer--and of opinions. It evokes traditions going back several hundred years at least, and possibly as far as the reign of the 10th century Danish King Harald Blatand, whom we would call King Harold Bluetooth. Lutfisk is to the infinitely more powerful olfactory signaling food surströmming, fermented Baltic herring, as Bluetooth wireless networking is the 802.11 family of communication technologies.
