IBM to Open Eight SOA Centers Worldwide

Published: January 16, 2007

by Alex Woodie

IBM this week announced plans to open two centers, in Dubai and France, dedicated to the pursuit of service oriented architecture (SOA) technology. Big Blue expects eventually to have eight SOA centers around the world, in Asia, North America, South America, and Northern Europe.

According to IBM, the new centers will serve as a focal point for the training, implementation, and demonstration of SOA technology, both developed by IBM and by its partners. The centers will be staffed by IBM SOA experts, and will also count university students and representatives of ISVs as participants.

"Opening these centers is a direct response to what our customers are demanding," says Jason Weisser, IBM's vice president and chief technology officer of SOA advance technology. "IBM has helped thousands of early SOA adopters successfully solve some of today's most challenging business problems using SOA. Now the SOA Leadership Centers can help customers develop the skills and knowledge to help enable them to use an SOA to attain business goals."

IBM says the new SOA centers will complement other types of centers, including its Global Business Solution Center in India and the SOA Solution Centers opened in India and China.
