Getting from here to there, reliably
From point A to point B, sometimes through point C and oftentimes on to D or E, more than 200,000 passengers a day count on ANA to get them to their destinations on time.
So, through more than 800 flights per day, ANA's Flight Management System sees to it, that, as Japan's leading airline in on-time performance, ANA continues to remain on time.
And behind this benchmark of punctuality, working away millisecond by millisecond, is HP technology. Find out more.

Sun Reveals Details on APL Partnership with Fujitsu
by Timothy Prickett Morgan
If it seemed like the Sparc partnership between Sun Microsystems and Fujitsu was hastily thrown together when it was announced on June 1, it wasn't. Sun executives said last week that the Advanced Product Line partnership has been in the works for more than a year, and that June 1 was just when the lawyers got done arguing. This partnership makes sense, but the abrupt manner in which Sun told the world about it left a lot of questions unanswered. READ MORE >

Sun Profits Nicely in Q4, Thanks to Microsoft Settlement
by Timothy Prickett Morgan
When Sun Microsystems said it wanted to be profitable by the end of fiscal 2004, no one could have predicted the way in which it would happen. Sun did indeed report a profit of $795 million for the fourth quarter, after booking $1.6 billion of its $1.95 billion settlement with Microsoft. But the company is still in the midst of a number of product transitions, and it prospects for profits and revenue growth in fiscal 2005 are a big question mark. READ MORE >

OpsWare Opens Up and Extends with 4.5 Release
by Timothy Prickett Morgan
One of the fundamental problems with computers is they all do not usually run the exact same software, and even when they do, the IT and business processes that applications embody are not implemented in exactly the same way from company to company. Automating the management of such systems is therefore problematic if you are, like OpsWare, trying to automate the data centers of the world--and do it on a budget. READ MORE >

Mad Dog 21/21: To Hive and Hive Not
by Hesh Wiener
They naturally organize themselves into orderly, cooperative groups. They produce what it takes to nurture and enlarge their society, and more, too. When the central figure in a group departs, they very quickly nominate one or more candidates for that role. If two or more prospective leaders arise, only one will remain with the group and emerge as a leader. That's the way honeybees behave and bee hive. That's the way people in prominent software development teams often act, too. READ MORE >
