Sterling Enhances Supply Chain Management

Published: October 19, 2006

Sterling Commerce--the AT&T subsidiary that is trying to segue its successful EDI and B2B software business into a new line of supply chain management applications-- last week unveiled several enhancements to its Supply Chain Management offering, as well as new integration points with IBM WebSphere Commerce.

Supply Chain Management is a collection of modules designed to help companies manage every supply chain business process, from order to delivery. The suite is composed of five components, including Supply Chain Visibility, Distributed Order Management, Networked Warehouse Management, Transportation Management, and Global Data Synchronization.

With the release (which wasn't specified), Sterling says it has boosted these modules with new capabilities, including: process modeling; an out-of-the-box workflow and alerts framework; and task-based retail-order entry and modification user interfaces.

Sterling also worked with IBM to develop an integration kit between Sterling's Multi-Channel Order Management and WebSphere Commerce 6.0. The software vendor says the kit helps deliver a complete order capture-to-fulfillment solution.

Lastly, Sterling announced a new Supply Chain Visibility application that combines real-time visibility of supplier information with proactive exception management.

Sterling's Supply Chain Management products, which are based on products it obtained in its 2004 Yantra acquisition, run on Linux and other operating systems.
