Microsoft is not working hard enough to comply with several requirements as part of its agreement with the federal government regarding the antitrust settlement, the Department of Justice said yesterday. According to reports, Microsoft "has fallen significantly behind" in submitting documentation about its Microsoft Communications Protocol Program (MCPP), which enables vendors to make sure their software works with Windows Server.
"In a substantial majority of cases Microsoft is no longer meeting the service-level guidelines established to measure the timeliness of its initial response to technical documentation issues submitted," the court document reportedly reads. Microsoft representatives have said the company is working hard to comply with the settlement.
Microsoft is also facing pressure from the European Commission, which last year threatened Microsoft with fines up to $2 million per day if they didn't work harder to share technical information with rivals. The software giant has reportedly received an extension until February 15 to submit materials proving they're in compliance with that program.
