Lucid8 Launches Exchange Recovery Tool

Lucid8 launched a new tool last week designed to improve the disaster recovery process for Microsoft Exchange users. Called DigiScope, the new product streamlines the process of searching Exchange databases for recoverable data and restoring it to a usable format.
Lucid8 has been in the Exchange maintenance and recovery business for about a decade, primarily with GOExchange, an administration tool that keeps Exchange running in optimal conditions, DigiVault, a backup tool for Exchange, and its Exchange crash recovery services. Now, the Seattle, Washington-area vendor is getting into the recovery business with DigiScope, which it launched last week at the Microsoft Tech Ed show in Orlando, Florida.
With DigiScope, Lucid8 is providing administrators with a tool that automates much of the process of searching through Exchange databases or PST files to find the lost, deleted, or archived information that needs to be brought to light. All that administrators need to know is what to look for, approximately where to look, and where the new data should go, and DigiScope does the rest. The software works with Exchange 2000, 2003, and 2007 databases and features an Outlook-based, drag-and-drop interface.
In addition to aiding in disaster recovery, the new product has a role in e-discovery, or the process of finding e-mail-based documents for legal or regulatory reasons. E-discovery functionality is becoming increasingly important because e-mail has become a virtual filing system at many companies and organizations, Lucid8 says.
Troy Werelius, CEO of Lucid8, says the new product will make search and recovery missions straightforward. "DigiScope was the next logical product for Lucid8," he says. "It really rounds out our product offerings for a comprehensive e-mail data protection, e-discovery, and recovery solution set."
DigiScope is available now. Introductory pricing starts at $595 for a single store or database with unlimited mailboxes in each store. For more information, go to www.lucid8.com.
