  • Lakeview Picks VP of Sales, Inks Reseller Deal with Kirchman

January 16, 2006 Timothy Prickett Morgan

iSeries high availability software provider Lakeview Technology has appointed a new vice president of worldwide sales as it continues to build up its executive ranks. Lakeview said last week that it has promoted Robert Johnson from within its own ranks to the position. Johnson has spent 20 years in the high availability software business, with the past ten being at Lakeview. He was also previously the national sales manager for Stenograph Legal Systems–the company that makes those funky stenographer’s machines as well as computer-aided transcription software.

Johnson’s appointment to the VP of sales position follows a month after Lakeview announced that it had hired Edward Vesely from outside the company to be its new vice president of worldwide marketing. Both executives report to executive vice president and general manager of the MIMIX Division, Marty Leamy. Vesely, by the way, was senior vice president of marketing at Click Commerce, a provider of e-commerce software tailored for sales and order management, supply chain management, service parts optimization, and compliance optimization. Vesely rebranded the company and was instrumental in growing the firm from $3 million in sales to $40 million in sales, which resulted in it going public in 2000. Vesely was also vice president of marketing at Platinum Technology and director of product marketing and international business development at IT consultancy Accenture.

In a separate announcement, Lakeview also said that it has signed a reseller agreement with Kirchman, a provider of bank processing software called Bankway, which runs on the OS/400 platform. Kirchman says that several of its customers were adversely affected by the hurricanes this past summer and fall, and that it wanted to be able to sell high availability software like Lakeview’s MIMIX software to help its customers better meet regulatory compliance for availability of systems (which is how people get availability to their money). The two companies will be working to integrate and test the interoperability between OS/400, MIMIX, and the Bankway suite.
