  • Elite Adds Card Payment Processing Option

    May 22, 2007 Alex Woodie

Elite Document Solutions, the document management software developer that was recently acquired by Vanguard Systems, the developer of the IMS21 imaging system, has added credit card processing to its recently introduced signature capture offering.

Last year, Elite rolled out Electronic Signature Capture, a piece of software that enables employees to capture signatures with each order, and to have the signature stored alongside other pertinent documents in Elite’s document management and archive system. The signature offering works in both mobile and local environments, and is particularly useful as a way of proving a delivery was made.

According to Elite, the Electronic Signature Capture product has been selling so well that the company decided to augment it with the capability to process credit and debit card transactions, via its Credit Card Processing module. Following a simple card swipe on the handheld or permanently mounted signature capturing device, the transaction is processed via PayPal‘s Verisign PayFlow settlement network, and the receipt, along with any additional required correspondence, is then printed and stored for later retrieval using Elite’s software.

The first customer to adopt the Credit Card Processing module was Allied Refrigeration, a wholesaler based down the road from Elite in Orange County, California, that served as a test and beta site for Credit Card Processing. You can read the story of Allied Refrigeration’s implementation of the signature capture solution in a Business Management magazine story, titled Toward paperless wholesale supply.
