  • S4i Systems Offers Subscriptions for DASD Optimization Products

    March 31, 2009 Alex Woodie

S4i Systems last week announced the availability of a new subscription model for its DASD optimization products for the IBM Power Systems (System i) server. For as little as $350 per month, customers can get access to DASD-Plus, DASD-Plus Chart, and DASD-Plus Alert, the former Centerfield Technology product previously known as disk/HUNTER.

S4i System’s trio of DASD optimization products cover many aspects of System i care and feeding. General housekeeping is the domain of DASD-Plus, which automates tasks such as clearing history logs, compressing data, resizing libraries, and reorganizing physical file members. DASD-Plus Chart gives a graphical view into the features of DASD-Plus, and includes a handy disk-use forecasting feature. Alerting administrators to dangerous spikes in DASD usage is the main feature of DASD-Plus Alert.

S4i Systems’ new subscription model is making it easier for System i users to get started with the trio of products, according to Susanne States, sales and client services director for S4i Systems, which recently moved up the road from Oceanside, California, to San Clemente.

“There is certainly more flexibility with subscription pricing, which can be a significant benefit for customers that are faced with trying to do more with a lot less these days,” States says in a press release. “System i customers are seeking the tools necessary for their business and we can help them by customizing a pricing structure that works with any procurement model.”
