Under Armour Expands Use of ManH’s WMS

Clothes manufacturer Under Armour has adopted Manhattan Associates‘ IBM i-based warehouse management system (WMS) to use in its European operations, the software vendor announced yesterday. Under Armour first implemented Manhattan Associate’s best-of-breed Warehouse Management for IBM i application in 2006 to replace a previous warehousing system that wasn’t working out. The applications (including Extended Enterprise Management and Slotting Optimization) have proven critical to Under Armour’s warehousing operations in Maryland and California. As Under Armour was getting ready to move its European supply chain hub to a new 3PL-run fulfillment center in Venlo, the Netherlands, the company decided to standardize its core warehousing functions on the proven combo of WMS-i software running on IBM i. The company has also adopted Extended Enterprise Management for its Venlo facility, which handles distribution of Under Armour products across 36 countries in the EMEA region. EEM allows the status of inbound products and deliveries to be viewed and updated online. All suppliers need to view shipment statuses is an Internet connection. Under Armour’s IT team in Baltimore, Maryland, led the Venlo implementation, with help from ManH. “A big advantage in electing to use Manhattan’s WMS and EEM solutions is that they were already completely geared up to support our type of business,” Bas van Rijnberk, Under Armour’s EMEA logistics manager says in a press release. “Under Armour is expanding rapidly and it is good to know that we have a systems platform that will be able to keep up with that pace of growth as well as keep us agile in the face of an ever changing external environment.” RELATED STORY Under Armour Taps Manhattan Associates for WMS
