  • Golden Nugget Taps Agilysys to Supply Software for New Casino

    October 14, 2014 Alex Woodie

A new Golden Nugget casino slated to open in December will be outfitted with more than 700 rooms, 1,600 slot machines, and an 18-hole golf course. It will also be served by at least one IBM i server running enterprise software from Agilysys.

Situated about two hours east of Houston on the shore of Lake Charles, Louisiana, the new Golden Nugget Lake Charles is slated to be one of the country’s most luxurious casino resorts outside of the Las Vegas strip. The 242-acre complex will be the fifth Golden Nugget property, and represents a $600 million investment by the casino chain’s owner, Landry’s Inc.

Supporting the resort’s hotel, retail, and restaurant operations will be a suite of Agilysys applications, including the flagship IBM i-based Lodging Management System (LMS), which is used by the biggest casinos in the world. LMS helps automate all aspects of hotel operations, from reservations and credit card processing to accounting and housekeeping.

Golden Nugget Lake Charles selected several LMS add-ons to handle other services, including LMS Accounts Receivable for enhanced revenue collection; LMS ShowGate for managing the sales of tickets for shows and events; LMS ShowNet for a Web-based ticket purchasing; the Web-based reservation system LMS ResNet; and Guest Express Kiosk for self-service check-in and check-out.

The resort is also using Agilysys GolfPro to help manage its golf course, while the Insight Mobile Manager will give hotel managers a mobile dashboard for viewing key pieces of data about the property, such as scheduled arrivals and departures, VIPs, total guests, rooms, house status, housekeeping, and others.

The Golden Nugget property also selected the DataMagine electronic document management software to help eliminate paperwork. The IBM i-based package includes an imaging component and enables resort employees to route documents electronically. The software also includes electronic registration, signature capture, and ID scanning capabilities.

Agilysys–which also offers the IBM i-based Stratton Warren System for optimizing the purchasing activities of resorts–has worked with Landry’s at other Golden Nugget properties. That experience proved valuable in Golden Nugget’s decision to stick with Agilysys.

“The company’s software systems, combined with a successful track record at our other properties, convinced us that they were the right partner for Golden Nugget Lake Charles,” says Lori Kittle, chief information officer at Landry’s.
