  • Introducing Four Hundred Guru Classic

July 30, 2018 Timothy Prickett Morgan

Application modernization is all the rage in the IBM i market these days, and for good reason. There is free form RPG that opens up new possibilities, and a slew of new programming languages and frameworks from the open source community that have been added to the platform. Just like some applications need to be updated and some don’t, some tech tips and tricks need to be updated while others don’t. Four Hundred Guru Classic is a new edition of The Four Hundred that is going to reach back into the archive of tech tips and tricks and amalgamate and update old stuff to make it new again.

Four Hundred Guru Classic is the brain child of Dan Burger, executive managing editor here at IT Jungle, and Amy Lantz, who handles marketing and communications for System i Developer, the training experts in the IBM i community comprised of Jon Paris, Susan Gantner, and Paul Tuohy. We have always been very grateful to have The System i Developer folks contribute content to the Guru aspects of The Four Hundred in the past year and a half and to Four Hundred Guru when it was a standalone publication before that. We are grateful to Dan and Amy for thinking this up and working with our very own senior technical editor, Ted Holt, to get Jon, Susan, and Paul to update some classic tips as part of the first edition. For starters, we will be reaching back in the archives on an occasional basis, as the time from the original authors and relevancy of topics dictates. But you can look for the special edition of Four Hundred Guru Classic to appear on Wednesdays when it does.

We hope you enjoy the updated tips and tricks and tech, and we all thank you for being readers of our publication.
