  • LANSA Gets its Game On

    May 1, 2007 Alex Woodie

Do you have green-screen anger issues? A little pent up rage resulting from the lack of flexibility of your 5250 application in the current Web era? Or maybe you just like to play video games? If your answer to any of these questions is “yes,” LANSA invites you to take part in a new online game called RAMP Mania.

The new game, which can be accessed at www.rampchallenge.com, digitally grafts a boxing glove to your mouse hand. As green screens and F keys pop up on the screen (Whack-a-Mole style), you navigate your mouse-glove to knock them down.

In between rounds, you can test your knowledge of LANSA’s Rapid Application Modernization Process (RAMP) tool via multiple choice tests that net you bonus points. Hone your mouse-glove skills across multiple rounds, amassing hundreds of points, and perhaps you will knock off the current leader, Ninja Steve, and take sole possession of first place.

“Developers want some recreation also, so we came up with RAMP Mania as a way to poke fun at those legacy components that annoy us,” says John Siniscal, president of LANSA. “If you can’t beat them in the real world, at least you can in RAMP Mania’s virtual world.”

LANSA is also holding a RAMP Mania “Kings of the Ring” contest at the COMMON Conference and Expo being held this week in Anaheim, California. Today, LANSA will announce the top three scorers at its booth, and will present them with their prize: a Rock’em Sock’em Robot game.
