  • Raz-Lee Rolls Out Business-Item Capture Solution

    May 6, 2014 Alex Woodie

Raz-Lee Security today formally unveiled a new release of its audit-oriented Capture product at the COMMON conference in Orlando, Florida. Called Capture with Business-Items, or CBI, the software takes shots of users’ 5250 screens, while recording specific details such as customer and account numbers.

Raz-Lee first unveiled its Capture+++ product in the spring of 2004 to fill the need for screen monitoring capabilities in regulated industries, such as banking, insurance, and healthcare. The software would capture screens when specific criteria were met, such as attempts to sign-in with a certain user ID a certain IP address is accessed.

With CBI, the software now automatically detects, isolates, and captures additional data from the application along with the 5250 screen images. The capability to tie associated data–such as customer, item, policy and account numbers; job detail and statement numbers; and current users and display files–from users’ green-screen applications gives organizations and auditors better visibility into application activity.

Like Capture, CBI can be automatically triggered based on specific criteria. The software can take into account possible changes in screen positioning of specific fields over an application’s course of life. It also can detect the runtime environment being accessed, such as test or production, and react accordingly, the company says.

Raz-Lee says it developed CBI in part to satisfy the requirements of the Italian Privacy Law, which goes into effect next month. The law, which targets banks, specifically requires screen capture with business-item extraction capabilities.

Raz-Lee CEO and CTO Shmuel Zailer says his company has always tried to answer market demands quickly. “We are now extremely happy to be servicing our current and future Capture customers, as well as Italian customers and prospects, with CBI,” Zailer says.

The Nanuet, New York, company, which is holding a press conference at the COMMON conference this week, also announced new distributors in Mexico, Argentina, Spain, Costa Rica, Peru, Hungary, Indonesia, and Switzerland. It also announced the hiring of a new international sales director, Philip Pearson, who comes to Raz-Lee from HelpSystems‘ Powertech subsidiary after spending a few months at Halcyon Software.

Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
