  • High Liner Ops for Hosted High Availability from DSC

    October 18, 2011 Alex Woodie

High Liner Foods, a Nova Scotia processor of frozen seafood, has tapped Data Storage Corp. (DSC) to protect its data and its applications. The company will utilize two forms of protection, including DSC’s hosted high availability setup as well as a data vaulting solution.

High Liner Foods, which reported revenue of $576 million Canadian ($570 million USD) during its fiscal 2010, is one of North America’s largest seafood processing operations. The company sources finfish and shellfish from all over the world, processes them, and stores them for distribution to restaurants and retail outlets across the U.S. and Canada.

The company has selected DSC’s SafeData HA service to ensure the availability of its JD Edwards World ERP and Windows applications, DSC says. With SafeData HA, data from applications is replicated in real time to backup servers housed in a DSC data center. DSC says its SafeData HA customers can be up and running on the backup server in 15 minutes or less after declaring an emergency.

High Liner also selected DSC’s SafeData Vault service. This offering, which is based on Asigra‘s agentless disk-to-disk backup technology, will be used for all daily and monthly backups of High Liner’s data. In addition to its JD Edwards ERP and Microsoft Windows applications, DSC is also protecting High Liner’s email server.

“We will be providing our managed HA solution for IBM i and MS Windows network environments, as well as developing off-site data storage with retention policies using the DSC SafeData Vault services, powered by Asigra,” DSC executive vice president Matthew Grosso says in a press release.
