  • LANSA White Paper Examines i OS and Microsoft Enterprise Architectures

    November 18, 2008 Alex Woodie

LANSA yesterday unveiled a new white paper that seeks to address how System i shops can build an enterprise application architecture that works in concert with software from Microsoft. A properly conceived architecture, LANSA argues, can accelerate the selection of tools to automate application development, and enable System i organizations to adapt their IT systems more quickly and efficiently.

LANSA brought in recognized System i expert Paul Conte to write “The Eight Pillars of an Enterprise Application Architecture: Building a Stable and Agile Software Foundation in a Dynamic IBM i and Microsoft World.”

In the 20-page paper, Conte argues that establishing a sound application architecture is the foundation for regaining control of application development. He outlines eight principles that provide the necessary structure for an enterprise application architecture. He also provides 10 steps that System i shops can take to get there, as well as advice on selecting the right user interface, evaluating application generators (such as LANSA’s), and modernizing skills.

“In this paper, Paul really breaks down the topic and provides excellent advice for those looking to improve their organizations’ applications and enhance their ability to respond to change,” says Steve Gapp, president of LANSA Americas. “A sound application architecture helps to bring clarity, reduced risk, and higher predictability and stability to these development projects.”

Interested parties can register to download a copy of the white paper at www.lansa.com/contewp2a. There is also a Webinar that summarizes the main points of Conte’s paper.
