  • Vision Solutions Makes Its Web Site More Resourceful

    October 1, 2007 Dan Burger

Citing the constant competitive pressure within technology markets and the pressure on IT professionals to research products and develop solutions while working under tight deadlines, Vision Solutions has renovated its corporate Web site and added a blog. Vision has become the dominant supplier of high availability software for the System i platform since being acquired by the private equity firm Thoma Cressey Bravo and then acquiring its chief rivals Lakeview Technology and iTera during the past 12 months.

The new company Web site features an expanded collection of online resources for researching high availability and disaster recovery, as well as systems and data management. Vision’s executive vice president and chief technology officer, Alan Arnold, will author the blog.

In redesigning the Web site to become more resourceful, Vision added a disaster recovery resource center and links to other systems availability resources such as analyst reports, case studies, Webcasts, and white papers. Also new is a research area known as BusinessContinuityToday.com, and an online portal co-sponsored by Vision and IBM. According to company literature, it has been designed to provide appropriate content, tips, tools and resources, which can be used to create business resilience plans and make improvements to IT infrastructure.

In addition, visitors will find an option to subscribe to an e-book that is produced in chapters and is downloadable in PDF format. The publication is titled The e-Book of Business Resilience, and is described as making use of many interactive techniques that “build a sense of community with the reader, invite the reader to sample additional content, and continue to re-visit the microsite for more news and the latest chapter.”

Arnold’s blog is called UPTIMES. In his first posting, Arnold says his blog is intended to be an exchange of ideas and will illustrate the importance of systems availability and how it affects us all on a day-to-day basis. “This blog is a good place for us to discuss high availability, and the real problems being caused by companies that don’t have good high availability strategies in place,” he says.
