ACS To Resell for ACOM

Published: April 6, 2010

by Alex Woodie

Associated Computer Systems, an IBM hardware and software reseller serving the Upper Midwest, has joined the reseller ranks of document and content management system vendor ACOM Solutions, the software company announced last week.

From its headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa, ACS sells System i, System x, and BladeCenter hardware, WebSphere and Lotus software, datacenter infrastructure, and networking and telephony gear to customers from Minnesota to Missouri. The company was looking to broaden its range of software offerings when it discovered ACOM, according to David Backstrom, vice president of sales and marketing for ACS.

"ACOM's offerings fit extremely well with the directions we need to take, and they will be an important partner as we move up the value-add chain," Backstrom stated in a press release. He added that the fact that ACOM was an IBM Global Solutions provider was "very important" in ACS' decision to partner with the company.

ACS has already made its first deal as a certified VAR for ACOM--a sale of EZContentManager, the Windows-based content management and workflow system that is being marketed heavily to the System i customer base. EZContentManager solution is "surprisingly easy to use," Backstrom says. "People are surprised at how robust it is for the price."

Backstrom also commented about the pre-packaged marketing material that ACS received as a participant in ACOM's "VAR Success Program." "They've made it so easy, that essentially all we have to do is click 'send'," he says. "It's like having our own extended marketing department."
