Island Pacific to Continue Selling Help/Systems BI Tools

Published: April 22, 2008

by Alex Woodie

Island Pacific will continue to market and sell an OEM version of Help/Systems' SEQUEL business intelligence software to users of its i5/OS-based Merchandising suite, the companies announced last week. The deal could also be extended to include Help/System's Robot suite of systems management tools.

Island Pacific has been selling its own branded version of SEQUEL called Island Pacific Viewpoint for some time. Following the sale of the division that developed the Merchandising suite to Australia's 3Q Holdings last year, that relationship was up in the air for a bit. But the companies eventually found each other again and renewed the partnership.

That's good news for Island Pacific's COO Richard Gaetano, who called SEQUEL an "exceptional" product. "The Help/Systems SEQUEL product is not just another query and data reporting product, but a robust application that our users rely on to accomplish all their data access requirements," Gaetano says. "SEQUEL offers them a way to automate processes and be more innovative in their use of the tools through the executive dashboards and additions to our core system."

The companies are also close to finalizing an extension to the partnership that will see Island Pacific selling the complete suite of systems management tools from Help/Systems, which runs the gamut from job scheduling and backup and recovery to message management and report distribution. "We look forward to hopefully bringing automated operations to Island Pacific customers," says Tom Huntington, Help/Systems' vice president of technical services.

Help/Systems will continue to provide technical support and services for Island Pacific's Viewpoint software. The companies will also participate in Webinars and conferences together.
