Quadrant Bolsters FastFax with Dynamic Line Allocation

Users don't have to worry about missing incoming fax orders during hectic workdays thanks to the new "dynamic line allocation" feature in FastFax/Enterprise version 4.7.2, which was announced this week by Quadrant Software. With dynamic line allocation, FastFax/Enterprise automatically takes fax lines normally assigned for outgoing faxes and uses them for incoming faxes.

FastFax/Enterprise is an enterprise-grade fax server software product designed to integrate with i5/OS ERP systems, such as J.D. Edwards and BPCS. The software offers users the capability to send documents generated by their ERP system as faxes or as e-mail, and to do so from the comfort of their desktop.

In addition to the dynamic line allocation feature, FastFax/Enterprise version 4.7.2 introduces a new line prioritization feature that lets the user assign fax lines for sending or receiving. By allowing the user to control whether they'll start with the low-volume or the high-volume lines, it helps avoid conflict with PBX systems routing incoming faxes using low-volume lines by default, Quadrant says.

The new release also brings support for Dialed Number Identification Service (DNIS), which is similar to Caller ID. While FastFax/Enterprise was previously able to determine some call information through the phone companies' Transmitting Subscriber Identification (TSI) or Automatic Number Identification (ANI), support for DNIS will provide more detailed information that FastFax/Enterprise can use to automatically route the fax to the right person or inbox.

Auto fax-back has also been added to this release. By utilizing the TSI and ANI information from incoming faxes, the software can automatically respond with a confirmation fax. Also, when users run FaxFax/Enterprise in conjunction with a document management or an archiving system (such as Quadrant's IntelliChief), FastFax/Enterprise can now automatically transmit purge-related information to the document management or archiving system, enhancing document retention and disposal management.

Lastly, Quadrant is now using fax cards from Cantata Technology to power its PC-based faxing system. Cantata's TrueFax cards are a less expensive alternative to multi-line fax cards destined for use in organizations with low inbound and outbound fax volumes, Quadrant says.
