Agilysys Sells Hospitality Suite to New Laotian Casino

Published: July 22, 2008

by Alex Woodie

Agilysys may be looking to sell its entire company, but that's not stopping it from selling its suite of popular i OS-based hospitality solutions, which are used by much of the Vegas Strip and many of the largest hotels in the world. The latest company to license the collection is Savan Vegas Hotel & Casino, a new 180-room luxury property in Savannakhet, Laos.

When the Savan Vegas opens in September, it will be the first five-star hotel and entertainment complex in Savannakhet Province, a region in southern Laos that borders Vietnam and Thailand, and which is perhaps best known for containing the famous Ho Chi Minh Trail. With a 58,000-square-foot casino, two restaurants, a coffee shop, a bar, and a spa, the $25 million Savan Vegas will provide a place for travelers to play.

Most of the customer- and partner-facing processes at the new hotel and casino will be driven by a quartet of Agilysys applications. These include two i OS-based applications, the Lodging Management System (LMS) and a procurement management system called Stratton Warren System (SWS), and two Windows-based systems, the InfoGenesis point of sale (POS) system and the DataMagine document management system.

One of the main reasons Savan Vegas picked the Agilysys collection is because it could get everything needed from a single vendor, according to Glen Hunter, vice president of information technology at Sanum Investments.

"We wanted systems that were proven, scalable, and easy to integrate with other applications like casino management, player tracking, and financial management," Hunter says. "We also wanted enterprise solutions that would allow us to add and manage other properties from a single location. The Agilysys software solutions met our criteria, and the fact that they run on IBM iSeries eased our system reliability concerns."

While the core of Agilysys' hospitality applications run on i OS today, the company is developing a new product called Guest 360 that will run on multiple platforms, including Windows.
