  • LaserVault DMS10 Unchains Your Documents

    August 19, 2014 Alex Woodie

Want to break free from your desk and roam the country wild? If your company adopts the latest release of the LaserVault Document Management Solution from Electronic Storage Corp., you’ll be able to conduct business wirelessly thanks to the new DMS client interface that runs on Android and iOS tablets and smartphones.

Lately, LaserVault has been focused on solving its IBM i customers’ backup and storage needs with its Universal Backup Device (UBD) series, which allow users to replace tape libraries with an appliance or any old NAS array that supports a CIFS, NFS, or iSCSI connection.

But you shouldn’t forget that LaserVault (as Electronic Storage Corp. increasingly refers to itself) is also in the document management business with LaserVault DMS, the Tulsa, Oklahoma, company’s original product, which effectively recreates a laser fiche archive environment in a digital setting. Today DMS is a full-featured document management system that allows users to capture, scan, index, retrieve, and route documents generated on IBM i and other systems.

With the launch of DMS10, the company has unveiled a Web-based interface that’s optimized for mobile devices. The new client is compatible with the Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari Web browsers, and allows users to pull up and approve documents from any iOS or Android device, in addition to PC-bound Web browsers.

According to Ax Synar, executive VP at LaserVault, DMS10 addresses the changing makeup of the modern workforce, which requires enabling business users to access documents and data from anywhere. “The ability to pull up any document for approval when out of the office is critical to helping our customers succeed in their business,” he says.

DMS10 runs on Windows and can pull documents from any IBM i, Windows, Linux, or Web-based application. “But for IBM i shops, DMS10 provides a powerful document management solution that can also be used with our LaserVault Reports system,” Synar says. “For AS/400 and iSeries users, this means they gain automation and control over their paper documents as well as their reports, resulting in lower costs and better efficiencies.”

The new version is available now. For more information see El Store’s website at www.laservault.com.
