Aviva Updates 5250 Emulator for Windows Vista

Aviva Solutions recently started shipping a new release of its Aviva for Desktop emulation suite that provides 5250, 3270, and VT connectivity for PCs running the Windows Vista operating system from Microsoft.

Aviva has been developing host connectivity solutions and integration solutions for more than a decade from its headquarters in Montreal, Quebec. The company sells a range of host connectivity solutions that enable users to access servers from Windows PCs, Web browsers, mobile devices, Macs, Linux, and even Unix workstations over SNA and IP networks. Its Aviva Host Integration SDK offering, meanwhile, provides programmatic Java interfaces to legacy systems.

In early August, Aviva unveiled Aviva for Desktop version 11. The primary new feature in version 11 is support for Windows Vista, the updated operating system that has presented some challenges for terminal emulation vendors.

The increased security of Windows Vista makes it a good choice for terminal emulation, says Valerio Lanzieri, president and CEO of Aviva Solutions. "Aviva for Desktops version 11 with Microsoft Windows Vista support will immediately address the demand for tightened security, enhanced user experience, and out-of-the-box .NET support that are just some of the enhancements in Microsoft Windows Vista," he stated in a press announcement. "We feel that these are the initiatives that are required by our customers to continue to leverage their valuable mainframe assets."
