PlanetJ Puts the WOW into Multi Database Search

PlanetJ recently unveiled a new component of its Web Object Wizard (WOW) for iSeries suite of products that enables customers to search across multiple databases, including DB2/400, with a single query, and to have the results returned to a Web page.

One of the first customers to use the new component, called WOW for Multi-System Query, is the sheriff’s department of Rockland County in New York. The department implemented the solution to streamline data sharing among neighboring counties as part of a Department of Homeland Security project.

The new system enables users to perform a single query to search multiple databases (including DB2/400, Oracle, MySQL, and Microsoft SQL Server) for details about crimes and crime criteria. The results are combined and presented to the user on a single integrated screen, which provides significant time savings for users and has enhanced public safety, according to PlanetJ.
