SafeData Moves Data Center to SAS Type II Facility

SafeData, a provider of managed high availability and online backup and recovery solutions for System i servers, yesterday announced that it has moved its data center from Boston to Waltham, Massachusetts.

SafeData president Peter Briggs says major factors influencing his decision to move to the Savvis data center in Waltham were the site's electricity and communications infrastructure and its SAS70 type II designation.

"The center also offers 100 percent power redundancy, protection against environmental elements, and fire detection and suppression systems," Briggs states in a press release. "Additionally, we feel confident that as we continue to grow our client base, the Savvis data center has ample room to expand with us."

SafeData will maintain its customers' data and backup System i hardware at the new Savvis facility. This includes the SafeData/HA service, under which SafeData guarantees no more than 15 minutes of application downtime, as well as SafeData/DR, which guarantees that customers will have access to their data in less than 10 hours following the declaration of a disaster.
