  • LXI Appoints New Chairman, VP of Business Development

January 16, 2006 Timothy Prickett Morgan

Midrange storage supplier LXI has hired a new chairman of the board and vice president of business development in the hopes that they can take LXI’s network storage business up to a new level.

LXI has tapped Dan Latham, an executive with executive, sales, and marketing experience at a variety of information technology and telecommunications companies. Latham was named president of the Enterprise Division of a company called Seisint, a provider of background screening software and services that was sold to LexisNexis in Septmber 2004 for $775 million. Before joining Seisint, Latham was CEO of a company called ImageLinks, a specialist in satellite, seismic, and other kinds of intensive image processing. LXI said that in less than a year after becoming CEO at ImageLinks, Latham had turned the company around to being profitable after five years of losses. (ImageLinks was acquired by Harris, an IT company specializing in software and services aimed at the Federal government.) Latham also had sales experience at IBM, doing large account sales; he was also a vice president of marketing for the former baby bell Ameritech and vice president of worldwide telecom marketing for the former Digital Equipment (both of which were acquired).

    I am sensing a theme here. . . .

LXI also announced that it has hired Lon Gretillat to be vice president of business development. Gretillat is an Iowa native who has developed and managed local businesses, most recently Kingland Systems, a maker of compliance, trading, and order routing software that is used primarily in the financial services industry.

Nancy Oliver remains chief executive officer at LXI.
