  • COMMON Picks Dufault as New President

October 9, 2006 Timothy Prickett Morgan

The board of directors of the COMMON midrange user group have chosen board member Randy Dufault to the presidency of that organization.

Dufault was first elected to the COMMON board in the fall of 2003. COMMON announced only a few weeks ago that Dufault, who was serving his first term on the board of directors, had been named treasurer. Dufault works at MBS Technologies, a midrange business partner from Minneapolis, Minnesota, that is an expert on building content management systems for the i5/OS and OS/400 platform. Dufault has been at MBS for 23 years, and started out as a programmer and now does system design for the state and local government business sector at MBS. Dufault has been a volunteer at COMMON for 17 years, serving on the education team and as a subject matter expert.

“Randy is a terrific choice to lead COMMON this year,” said Beverly Russell, the outgoing president of COMMON who has just finished up her two-year term. “He has the experience, knowledge base, and sharp intellect we need in what is going to be quite an exciting year.” Russell will take over the treasurer position from Dufault.

Dufault takes the helm just as COMMON is trying to reinvent itself. The organization is going to a once-a-year shindig instead of the two it used to hold, and is trying to work with local user groups to co-host regional events.
