  • Shield Advanced Solutions Is Looking for European Resellers for JobQGenie

February 26, 2007 Timothy Prickett Morgan

Canadian i5/OS and OS/400 systems management software provider Shield Advanced Solutions, which is based in Toronto, is looking for some help to expand sales of its JobQGenie product into Europe.

Back in April 2006, Shield Advanced Solutions announced JobQGenie Version 5, an update of its add-on for i5/OS and OS/400 systems that helps monitor and manage batch jobs. Such management is particularly tricky in high availability clusters that failover or are rolled over manually when batch jobs are running or are poised to start.

To help build out its European partner network, the company has launched a new Web site at www.jobqgenie.com. This site is attempting to present Shield as a neutral player among the other providers of HA software, and includes a 30-day trial of the software, documentation, and an online application for those who want to apply to be a European distributor for JobQGenie.

According to Chris Hurd, a long-time HA expert on the IBM midrange platform and the owner of Shield, his company is looking for partners to provide Level 1 and Level 2 support locally throughout the many countries in Europe in local languages. JobQGenie, which has been available since 1999, doesn’t require a lot of support once it is running, according to Hird, but there are opportunities for sales and deployment services.
