  • Kronos Unveils i5/OS-Based HR Solution for Casinos

    April 10, 2007 Alex Woodie

Human resources management software developer Kronos last week unveiled a bundle of new software targeted at the gambling industry, called Kronos for Gaming. Kronos’ i5/OS offerings, called the iSeries Central Suite, play a prominent role in the new industry offering.

According to Kronos, the casino industry is facing a series of challenges in its battle to attract and keep employees and customers. Growth, consolidation, and competition are making it difficult for casinos to differentiate themselves and effectively compete for both employees and customers, the software company says.

To help casinos adapt to these changes, Kronos rolled out Kronos for Gaming, a collection of integrated applications providing time and attendance, scheduling, absence management, hiring and selection, and biometric data collection functionality.

Kronos for Gaming is largely based on iSeries Central, and includes several i5/OS-based applications, including iSeries Timekeeper, iSeries Leave, and iSeries Scheduler, in addition to its Workforce Acquisition module and the 4500 Touch ID Terminal, which uses biometric authentication to prevent employees from clocking each other in and out, so-called “buddy punching.”

Kronos for Gaming is the fourth industry-specific offering from Kronos. In previous months, the company launched vertical solutions for retail, manufacturing, and healthcare.

With each of these offerings, Kronos gives customers the option of choosing either the iSeries Central Suite or Kronos’ Windows-based Workforce Central Suite, except for Kronos for Gaming, which is entirely based on iSeries Central. This choice reflects the System i server’s incredible popularity in the gaming industry.

Kronos made the announcement at the Kronos for Gaming Executive Rally held last week at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
