  • Magic Develops iBOLT for SAP R/3, mySAP

    April 24, 2007 Alex Woodie

Magic Software last week unveiled a special edition of its iBOLT integration software designed to work specifically with SAP‘s R/3 and mySAP ERP suite.

Magic broke iBOLT off from its flagship eDeveloper IDE in 2003 and packaged it as a wizard-driven enterprise application integration suite that helps customers integrate their business applications using an array of the latest standards and techniques, including Web services and service oriented architecture (SOA). The software, which includes development, runtime, and monitoring components, is very extensible and supports an array of integration types, including workflow and composite functionality, B2B and application-to-application (EDI) functionality, and even business activity monitoring (BAM).

In the summer of 2005, Magic unveiled a version of iBOLT designed to work in Windows-based SAP ERP environments, called iBOLT Special Edition (SE) for SAP Business One. In late 2006, the company unveiled another special version of iBOLT, called JDE Connect, that was designed to help users extend customized J.D. Edwards programs to applications running on other platforms, and also to bring data from other systems into the J.D. Edwards environment.

Now, Magic has turned its hand to SAP’s biggest customers: those running the client-server R/3 system and the Web-based mySAP ERP system. Both SAP environments are supported with the latest product, called iBOLT SE for SAP R/3.

There are many uses of the new product, Magic says, including automating manual communication processes, connecting e-commerce sites to R/3, allowing customers to submit orders electronically, facilitating EDI transactions, and sharing and synchronizing R/3 data across multiple sites. Magic says the new software supports SAP’s native RFC API Library, works with the vendor’s newest SAP NetWeaver XI integrations tools, and is xApps certified.

Amit Ben-Zvi, vice president of corporate marketing and products for Magic, says the iBOLT version of SAP Business One paved the way for the new iBOLT version for R/3 and mySAP. “Today’s announcement will allow thousands of SAP business partners, many of which are already partners with Magic Software, to deliver solutions for their SAP enterprise customers,” he says.
