  • NetManage Eases Access to College’s AS/400

    May 8, 2007 Alex Woodie

It’s easier for students at the New York College of Podiatric Medicine to access their AS/400-based financial aid records as a result of an implementation of NetManage OnWeb for iSeries, NetManage announced yesterday.

The New York College of Podiatric Medicine was founded in 1911 and is the oldest and largest podiatric college in the world. The school, which is based in Harlem, New York, has about 400 students. It’s also affiliated with Foot Clinics of New York, which sees approximately 40,000 patient visits a year and is the world’s largest foot care clinic.

Students and administrative personnel at the college were having a less-than-ideal time accessing the school’s AS/400. Each call from a student required financial aid personnel to wade through multiple green screens, and took from 10 to 15 minutes per call, according to NetManage. Following the implementation of OnWeb, the school was able to cut those call lengths to three to four minutes, saving precious time.

“After deploying NetManage’s OnWeb for iSeries late last year, our financial department professionals have reported that they can expedite financial aid requests and have fully eliminated all application backlog,” says Bill Graham, the college’s vice president of IT. “Moreover, the process of accessing information is now easy enough for students to fulfill their own requests, saving the financial aid department time and processing costs.”
