  • Vision Ships Update for MIMIX for AIX

    July 24, 2007 Alex Woodie

System i high availability software specialist Vision Solutions yesterday announced MIMIX for AIX version 3.0, a new version of the company’s high availability offering for AIX running on System p and System i servers.

MIMIX for AIX is a collection of products designed to provide failover protection for critical applications running on AIX-equipped RISC servers from IBM and other hardware vendors. The software includes two main products, including MIMIX EchoStream, which provides continuous data protection (CDP) capabilities, and MIMIX HA Cluster, which provides high availability and clustering capabilities. The software was obtained by Vision as part of its acquisistion of Lakeview Technology one month ago. Lakeview, in turn, acquired it from a company called H.A. Technical Solutions about three and a half years ago.

With MIMIX for AIX version 3.0, Vision has delivered several new features, including adding support for failovers performed between systems geographically distant from one another; a new graphical interface that provides better integration between the replication and clustering/failover components of the product; and enhancements to the product’s notification and logging features that will make it easier to troubleshoot problems.

Alan Arnold, chief technology officer and executive vice president of Vision, says MIMIX for AIX works to keep servers available for businesses. “This latest release represents several MIMIX high availability innovations that provide maximum protection against data loss while integrating easily into AIX environments,” he says.
