  • Ricoh Introduces Two Wide Format Printers

    July 31, 2007 Alex Woodie

Ricoh Americas last week launched two new wide-format multi-function printers (MFPs), the Aficio MP W2400 and MP W3600, both of which can work with the System i server.

The new W2400 and W3600 printers both are designed to print high quality black and white documents at up to 600 dpi resolution. They aren’t terribly fast, with print speeds of two and three pages per minute, respectively. But they do offer the capability to scan, copy, distribute, and archive, making them much more than basic printers.

What really sets the new printers apart, though, are their support for printing and copying wide formats. The two devices can scan and documents that are 36 inches wide and up to 590 inches long, or 49 feet. This is accomplished thanks to paper roll trays, and 1GB of standard memory.

The MP W2400 and MP W3600 also have several printer controller options, including the standard embedded printer controller, which works with most common file formats, as well as an external printer controller, which offers more advanced features, such as the capability to print directly from networked i5/OS, Windows, Mac, Unix, and CAD systems.
