  • Clearview Boosts 5250 Screen Navigation for Smartphones

    September 25, 2007 Alex Woodie

Clearview Software International, a software development firm based in Amherst, New Hampshire, recently started selling a new version of its 5250 and Unix emulator for Windows smartphones and PDAs, Co*STAR Mobile Release 2.0. With this release, Clearview has focused on improving user navigation of System i screens from small displays, such as those on PDAs.

According to Rich Lowney, CEO of Clearview Software, the new release of the Co*STAR product, announced Sunday, stemmed from the needs of several customers who requested improvements be made to their PDA user interfaces when connecting to iSeries applications.

“With the additional features, we have simplified navigation of the iSeries screen on the PDA and significantly improved productivity of the end users,” Lowney says. “We are very pleased to offer many robust features including; improved screen scrolling, function key configuration/display, and a great new way of displaying iSeries message notification. Our customers are extremely excited with the improved response time, small footprint, and ease of configuration.”

Co*STAR Mobile is designed for Microsoft Pocket PC 2003 and Windows Mobile 5 platforms, and includes emulator for TN5250 and VT220. For more information or free trials, visit www.costarmobile.com/Screens.aspx.
