  • BluePhoenix Hosts ASNAPalooza in San Antonio This Week

October 8, 2007 Timothy Prickett Morgan

Software development tool maker ASNA may have recently merged with mainframe tool and integration software maker BluePhoenix Solutions, but as far as ASNA’s customers are concerned, the annual ASNApalooza conference for customers is going on this week in San Antonio, Texas, just like always.

In fact, BluePhoenix and ASNA expect a record turnout for the event, which runs from October 8 though 10 at the Hyatt Regency along the famous Riverwalk in San Antonio. The event is expected to draw hundreds of IT managers, chief information officers, and programmers from all over the world. Anne Ferguson, who is chief executive officer at ASNA and one of the company’s co-founders, will make opening remarks at the ASNApalooza event, and so will Arik Kilman, CEO at BluePhoenix. ASNA gurus Rick Farina, Tim Jannsen, Mike Marlowe, Ric Torres, and Roger Pence will be giving the bulk of the presentations at the event.

“We are very happy to attend our first ASNApalooza,” said Kilman in a statement ahead of the conference. “ASNA has succeeded in creating a large community of customers who use their market-leading RPG modernization tools for System i and .NET. We look forward to meeting the attendees and discussing their modernization needs, and the additional solutions and services available to them as a result of the BluePhoenix/ASNA merger.”

The merger between the two companies was completed on August 16, with ASNA distributing $1.7 million in dividends to its shareholders before the merger and another $7 million that came from BluePhoenix in the wake of the merger. ASNA’s original shareholders will get an unspecified amount of extra dough if Ferguson and her team can hit certain sales targets in the next three years.

Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
