  • Kisco’s WebReport/400 Now Converts Spool Files to XLS

    October 16, 2007 Alex Woodie

Kisco Information Systems has added the capability to convert i5/OS spool files into the Excel format with the latest release of WebReport/400, its utility for transforming i5/OS output and distributing it via e-mail and the Web.

WebReport/400 is a versatile utility aimed at allowing i5/OS shops to make more effective use of the spool files and reports generated by their applications. The software allows output to be automatically e-mailed to recipients, posted to a Web site, or sent to another machine via FTP, enabling wider and more effective communication.

Launched in late September, WebReport/400 version 9.15 brings support for the ubiquitous Microsoft Excel spreadsheet program. The product previously supported several other popular PC formats, including PDF, HTML, TXT, RTF, and CSV.

WebReport/400 version 9.15 brings several other new features, including a new activity database to improve logging functions; the capability to differentiate between administrators and regular users to improve security; support for batch processing; new file naming capabilities for files put into the IFS; and support for AFP overlays when using e-mail addresses stored within the spool file text.

Two versions of WebReport/400 are sold, including WebReport/400 PDF, which is needed to convert documents into the PDF, XLS, and CSV formats, to process AFP overlays, and to support the FTP function. The original WebReport/400 product supports posting of i5/OS output as HTML, and distribution of i5/OS output as e-mail attachments.

WebReport/400 PDF costs $1,795 per server, while WebReport/400 costs $1,195. An LPAR version of WebReport/400 that supports an unlimited number of logical partitions on an LPAR box costs $2,700. For more information, visit www.kisco.com.
