  • Nulogx to Sell ACOM’s EZeDocs/400 with Hosted TMS

    November 13, 2007 Alex Woodie

Nulogx, a developer of an i5/OS-based transportation management system (TMS), has inked an OEM deal with ACOM Solutions that will see Nulogx providing its customers with access to ACOM’s EZeDocs/400 document management software as part of its new hosted TMS offering.

Nulogx launched its new Transportation Control, Software as a Service (TC/SaaS) offering in August as a way to provide smaller third-party logistics (3PL) companies with access to sophisticated shipping software that can help run their businesses more effectively. The offering, which is based on software Nulogx acquired from i2 Technologies in 2004, runs exclusively on IBM System i hardware, which the company views as a superior platform for business applications.

The company sought an electronic forms package to go with TC/SaaS so its customers could create professional-looking documents from the data residing within their hosted System i applications. In addition to letting customers create their own electronic document templates in a drag-and-drop environment, use of a full-fledged forms package would cut down on the need for pre-printed forms.

Nulogx looked at several document output solutions for the System i, and settled on EZeDocs/400 for several reasons, says Travis-James Smith, vice president of solutions. “It provides the functionality and features that we and our customers require, it was easy to deploy, and operates seamlessly with our software at a relatively great price point,” he says. “It is a very clean implementation.”

Likewise, the folks at ACOM are keen on the deal. “This is an excellent vertical application of EZeDocs/400, since it runs native on System i computers and is fully compatible with virtually all software written for that environment,” says James Scott, a senior vice president for ACOM. “EZeDocs brings still more strength to their already powerful product suite.”

Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
