  • Ocean Computer Group Builds Portfolio with VAI’s ERP Suite

    September 29, 2008 Dan Burger

Ocean Computer Group, a solutions provider of equipment, APC power, software, consulting, and services for mid-market computer customers throughout the metropolitan New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia areas has added VAI‘s S2K enterprise resource planning (ERP) suite to its product line.

This announcement comes a week after VAI launched S2K 5.0, a new version of its flagship IBM i OS-based ERP system for manufacturing, distribution, retail, metals, food and related service industries. The release includes many new features, including a new Java client, an updated warehouse management system (WMS), new Web portal programs, and a new iPhone interface. VAI develops applications for warehouse management, EDI, CRM, and e-business that are written in RPG ILE.

Ocean Computer Group is an IBM premier business partner that specializes in implementing enterprise-wide solutions utilizing the Power Systems platform, as well as Big Blue’s System x X64-based servers and its various middleware products. Ocean offers IBM maintenance and support services and technical services to help companies plan, architect, and deploy IT solutions. It also has partnership arrangements with VMware, Microsoft, and Citrix Systems, among others.

VAI (formerly known by its full name Vormittag Associates Inc.) introduced a services package plan at the beginning of the year, which emphasizes fixed prices and specified parameters that it says will eliminate cost overruns, an issue that often plagues new technology deployments.

VAI was founded in 1978. It has more than 750 customers–primarily small to mid size companies. Its company headquarters are in Ronkonkoma, New York, and it has offices in Florida, Illinois, and California. Its reseller network numbers more than 100 dealers across the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico

The company’s annual user conference was held last week in Las Vegas. Look for news related to that event appearing in our Four Hundred Stuff newsletter tomorrow.

Get More Out of Your IBM i

With soaring costs, operational data is more critical than ever. IBM shops need faster, easier ways to distribute IBM applications-based data to users more efficiently, no matter where they are.

    The Problem:

For Users, IBM Data Can Be Difficult to Get To

IBM Applications generate reports as spooled files, originally designed to be printed. Often those reports are packed together with so much data it makes them difficult to read. Add to that hardcopy is a pain to distribute. User-friendly formats like Excel and PDF are better, offering sorting, searching, and easy portability but getting IBM reports into these formats can be tricky without the right tools.

    The Solution:

IBM i Reports can easily be converted to easy to read and share formats like Excel and PDF and Delivered by Email

Converting IBM i, iSeries, and AS400 reports into Excel and PDF is now a lot easier with SpoolFlex software by DRV Tech.  If you or your users are still doing this manually, think how much time is wasted dragging and reformatting to make a report readable. How much time would be saved if they were automatically formatted correctly and delivered to one or multiple recipients.

SpoolFlex converts spooled files to Excel and PDF, automatically emailing them, and saving copies to network shared folders. SpoolFlex converts complex reports to Excel, removing unwanted headers, splitting large reports out for individual recipients, and delivering to users whether they are at the office or working from home.

Watch our 2-minute video and see DRV’s powerful SpoolFlex software can solve your file conversion challenges.
