  • Hitachi Updates Identity Management Software

    February 10, 2009 Alex Woodie

Hitachi ID Systems, which used to be M-Tech Systems, last week unveiled Hitachi ID Management Suite 6.0, a new version of its cross-platform suite of identity management and password synchronization software.

Hitachi ID Management Suite is a collection of four components, including Identity Manager (ID-Synch), Group Manager (ID-Access), Access Certifier (ID-Certify) and Org Manager (ID-Org). The products address many aspects of identity management across major platforms such as Windows, Unix, mainframe, and System i, including user provisioning, managing groups of users, and password synchronization and single sign-on. The company also sells Privileged PW Manager (ID-Archive), but it’s not a member of the suite.

With version 6.0, Hitachi introduced several new features, including the addition of role-based access control (RBAC) capabilities, a new segregation of duties (SoD) engine, new password synchronization capabilities, a new API for integrating the product into existing IT workflows, and various improvements to the GUI.

Hitachi ID worked on version 6.0 for almost two years, says Idan Shoham, CTO of Hitachi ID. “As the economic climate worsened through 2008, we realized that customers would want us to focus increasingly on total cost of ownership and on cost savings from effective deployments,” he says in a press release. “With that in mind, we have focused on ease of deployment and low ongoing administrating cost for this release.”

Hitachi ID Management Suite 6.0 requires a SQL Server or Oracle database, and is available immediately. For more information, check out www.hitachi-id.com.
