  • Infor to Staff 550 Workers at New Facility in India

    April 27, 2010 Alex Woodie

Approximately 550 Infor employees will work at a new Center of Excellence that Infor is building in Hyderabad, India, the software vendor announced last week. Infor says the multi-million dollar investment showcases the importance of the Asia-Pacific region to its business strategy.

The Asia Pacific region only accounts for about 9 percent of Infor’s $2 billion or so in annual revenue, but it’s one of the company’s fastest growing regions. In a recent quarter, the company (which is privately held and not required to disclose its financial results) says it enjoyed 37 percent growth in Asia Pacific sales. That was before the global economic collapse, but it still indicates the potential for strong growth in the region.

Infor is building its new CoE in India to not only drive sales of its products and services in that region, but also to take advantage of the large number of English-speaking IT professionals in the technology hotbed of Hyderabad. The employees who work at the new CoE in Hyderabad will do a range of jobs, including professional services, product development, technical support, internal support, and financing.

“India is not only a rapidly growing market for businesses, it is also a fertile ground for talented software and service developers, proficient in English, and able to support the operations of a global company like Infor,” said Jim Schaper, Chairman and CEO of the Atlanta, Georgia, company. “Our new Center of Excellence here in Hyderabad will enable us to provide new and growing customers best-in-class professional services consulting and support.”
