  • Saudi Distributor Taps VAI for Logistics Improvement

    May 25, 2010 Alex Woodie

United Yousef Naghi Company, a midsize Saudi Arabian distributor, has upgraded its i/OS-based ERP system from VAI, the vendor announced last week. The new ERP suite is expected to help the distributor streamline its warehousing operations, and provide more timely data to its sales and customer service personnel.

With more than 12 warehouses in Saudi Arabia, United Yousef Naghi Company provides a wide array of warehousing and distribution services throughout the kingdom. The company, which is based in Jeddah, is one of the largest distributors of LG Electronics appliances and electronics through its United Naghi Electronics subsidiary. Other subsidiaries include a food and consumer products distributor, an automobile distributor, and a transportation service company.

Linking all of these operations are the distribution, manufacturing, and WMS components of S2K, the i/OS-based ERP suite developed by VAI, which is based on Long Island in New York. This past December, United Yousef Naghi Company completed an upgrade to the latest version of S2K, which is version 5.

It does not sound like the decision to stick with VAI and upgrade to the latest release was a difficult one to make for United Yousef Naghi Company. “We have been a VAI customer for several years and wanted to benefit from the latest version of S2K,” stated Mohamed Mustafa Zaid, the company’s IT manager.

Already, the company says it’s benefiting from more accurate and timely data retrieval capabilities, and other operational efficiencies delivered with S2K.
