  • VAI Unveils New SaaS Option

    June 15, 2010 Alex Woodie

VAI is taking another run at the software as a service (SaaS) delivery method. Last week the company announced that it will offer a SaaS-based version of its i/OS-based ERP software suite to customers through a partnership with mindSHIFT Technologies, a managed services provider based in Massachusetts. Pricing will start at $150 per user per month.

SaaS has been on the minds of the folks at Ronkonkoma, New York-based VAI for some time. More than two years ago, the company announced a partnership with managed service provider Pragmatix to deliver its S2K application suite to customers over the Web. In 2009, VAI joined IBM‘s SaaS Specialty Program. Company executives have written several white papers, including one that explores the notion of on-premise SaaS.

Now VAI has partnered up with mindSHIFT Technologies, which runs a SAS 70 Type II data center in Fairfax, Virginia. Together, VAI and mindSHIFT will provide the hardware and support resources to allow VAI’s customers to get up and running on the S2K suite without the up-front investment that would normally accompany an ERP roll-out. mindSHIFT will also provide VAI’s customers with on-going technical support for the S2K implementation in its data center.

VAI’s vice president of sales Joe Scioscia says the transition to SaaS should be a smooth one for the software developer. “VAI has the know-how that comes from deploying, converting and managing tens of thousands of seats of technology and supporting hundreds of customers, day in and day out,” he states in a press release. “S2K SaaS is a natural extension of the VAI solution portfolio, providing deployment options to meet customer requirements and to solve the most pressing business needs.”
